Plants, lamps, photos and dartboards

These four things seemed to recur throughout the film. The plants seemed to relate to sexuality, the lamps and photos might be incidental, but I'm wondering about dartboards. What was that referring to?

Intriguing question. Spader's then wife and another woman called Joanne who were working on the sets chose the pictures. Apparently, the only ones Soderbergh recognises are Robert Oppenheimer ("father" of atom bomb) and Lilian Gish (actress).
