James Spader and Andie MacDowell Were Robbed of Oscars.
So was the film.
shareI agree. The film and their performances were fantastic.
Formally whydotheycancelgoodtv
I think in today's oscars they would have been nominated, if Jennifer Hudson can win a freaking oscar in her first role, why can't these two? And these two are far better than her.
Y'know, I could eat a peach for hours
This wasn't the first role for either of them. Or did I misunderstand you? James Spader was in "Pretty in Pink" long before this movie, and Andie MacDowell was in Tarzan, and St Elmo's Fire before this. If I misunderstood your point, sorry.
shareSpader won Best Actor at Cannes.
I think I'll have a large order of prognosis negative.
First time seen this gem of a film a few days ago, has left a mark with me. I'm really surprised at how great Andie MacDowell is, by far her greatest performance. I agree it's award worthy. The way she turns the tables on Spader and it shows that Spader is just like her and is damaged soul is fantastic and heartbreaking.
Spader is so fucking good in this, he's only in it sparingly but when he's on screen he makes his mark and it's one of the best performances from 80's cinema.
