What does Nathaniel want from Arthur?
The whole town knows about the tragedy in the marsh, the kidnapping, and the illegitimate birth. As a ghost, Nathaniel must be aware of this matter, so I'm not sure why he is still in his house. He has no secrets to reveal, and there is nothing that anyone can help him with. Does he just want to make a friend after having such a difficult and early death? Would that give the boy a better connection to Earth before leaving it? Does Nathaniel think that his forming a bond with someone will make his mother lose her rage? He even follows Arthur to the inn, so he must see something special in the man.
