Back in the day......

Saw this movie when it was playing on the big screen in the summer of 89. My wife and I were in college and dating each other. We both enjoyed the movie. My wife and I have been married for 25 years now and last night I watched this movie. I believe the last time I watched it Clinton and Monica Lewinsky were front page news. It's been awhile.

Personally I think it's aged pretty well, but I was also was dating in the eighties so for me it might be more nostalgia. The biggest thing I can say is that I'm grateful that I'm not dating anymore. Oh and one more thing. It's odd how you don't notice that the characters are living so well when you're twenty-one. You just take it for granted that everyone can live that comfortably in New York City. Now, at forty-eight, I see things a little differently. However Nora Ephron was comfortable ,as was Rob Reiner, and writers write about what they know I suppose.

Personally I've often thought that Rome would be a great city to live in if I had a personal net worth of $350.000.000.

Well anyway it's held up well, but I'm an old married man who has been out of circulation for a long time so I'm woefully out of touch. I realize this.

Congrats on your marriage. My mom and I watch this whenever it's on TV and never tire of it. It's so funny. I think Its pretty common in television and movies for characters to be crazy successful at 20 with spacious apartments and dream jobs. I just chalked it up to that. I am 20 and I really enjoy this movie, but I doubt anyone else my age will find that it holds up. It's a smart romcom! Have any of those even come out this year?

Wildcattin'...Wildcattin'. Pow! I'm gonna go.
