Guilty Pleasure

This movie is like Gilligan's Island or Dumb and Dumber: It's really, really STOOPID. It's one of those things I'm embarrassed to admit that I like, but, given a rainy weekend afternoon with nothing to do, I'm perfectly willing to pop this into the VCR (I taped it off the air, I'm not gonna actually BUY a copy), make some popcorn, grab a cold drink and just put my mind on hold for a couple of hours.

I always look forward to one scene where Larry says the only really funny line in the whole movie: "What kind of host invites you to his house for the weekend and then DIES on you?"

i found it a few months ago in the $5.50 bin at Wal-Mart. i was with a few friends, and at first, i was embarrassed, but when they saw it, they were going "i use to LOVE that movie!" then it sort of because a game of admitting our guilty pleasures, and let me tell you - there were some WAY worse movies brought up in that conversation that "Weekend at Bernie's."

When I saw the trailer for this film in '89, I knew that I had to see it. I didn't tell anyone that I was going to see it...I just sneaked off one Saturday.

I loved it!

A couple of years later, I saw an interview with Steve Allen - certainly one of the comic geniuses. He was asked what specific things made him laugh. "Weekend at Bernie's" was on the list!

I saw this on openning day at the theater with some friends. Knew nothing about it. It made us laugh. Maybe the hardest I've ever laughed at a theater.
I've owned it on VHS for years and now I have a DVD version (Pizza Hut promo) and yeah it still is a guilty pleasure.
The movie is dumb but it will make you laugh again and again.
You just have to be in the right mood for it.
But don't go see it for the first time if you just lost someone close to you.
"it's too hot" "How long has she been up there?" "My aunt is very sick"
"Mr can I bury you?"
