Richard was such a putz

I mean, what a total stick-in-the-mud. The best example of this was when they were on the ferryboat headed to Bernie's, Richard was sitting on his butt making conversation with that OLD FOSSIL of a woman, instead of drinking and dancing and mingling with the people his own age. If I were Larry, I would have dumped that chump and found an actual decent wingman to go out and party with. Anyone else agree?

Larry is the type of guy who likes to go out and party but he has to be dragged out to the party before he'd ever go to one. Therefore we have Andy McCarthy there to help keep our stick in the mud dude a bit less of a nit.

Richard was such a putz!

"Well! that's kinda the idea! isn't it?". Larry is a optimist, con man, idiot!,While Richard is a pessimist, shy, idiot!.I think the director was going for opposites to make the film more funny!

Richard was very attractive. Some friends like each other because they are opposites and some men are more reserved and shy around women, that might be why he was talking to the older woman on the boat. Everybody is different. Not everybody is a party goer. Richard was more interested in going to Bernie's house to work. There is nothing wrong with that. Besides, he was attracted to Gwen while Larry wanted to be around several women.
