What are we left to assume about Bernie's gf?

You know Veto's supposed gf who seemingly had the hots for Bernie? So when she went into the bedroom and got in bed with him, it's a certainty she would have come to realize at some point he was dead. So what does this mean since she went downstairs after as happy as can be as if on cloud nine? Does it mean she somehow was oblivious to the fact Bernie was a stiff in another way lol? Or does it mean when she did find out she like most others in the movie could care less if Bernie showed no signs of life? What did you make of this part of the movie?

lol she had sex with a corpse. It was a hilarious gag. Silverman and McCarthy make that scene with their dialogue.

See, the joke there is funny because we don't know what happened behind the closed door. The problem with this film is that the joke about Bernie being dead and nobody noticing it isn't funny to begin with due to the fact that it should be obvious to everyone that he is dead. When you do keep Bernie offscreen like here, it can be funny.

Having vacationed several times on a resort island, I can attest to the "continuous party" atmosphere. Everyone is there to lose themselves and have a good time.

Those people were in constant party mode, expected to see Bernie wasted, and so, were none the wiser, or interested in being so. It's not like they were close friends or anything, they were island party friends. Plus, it wasn't like Bernie was a warm and fuzzy guy when alive. He is depicted as an inveterate playa.

The girlfriend was also stumbling drunk when she arrived, and most likely assumed Bernie's lack of "participation" was because he was passed out - something that had probably happened in their relationship before.

This isn't really the type of film that needs an explanation, but you've still given a pretty plausible explanation Planet-38. Kudos to you.
