The only flaw...

I believe they killed Bernie off to early. Bernie's life should have been explored in more detail. From his work, how and why he stole from the company, to his friends, his mob connections, and more info on his affair with Vito's girlfriend. In comparison, Richard and Larry are boring. Yes they are hilarious and the main protagonists. But I feel as if it would have made for a more interesting story to have Lomax alive for at least half the movie. Thoughts..?

Lol @ "the only flaw." The basic concept of the movie is so full of flaws that it makes it funny without even watching it.

The guy who played Bernie did a good job. He was a strong character for sure. But you also have to appreciate that people came to see a movie where they pretend that a dead guy is alive. Keeping him alive for half the movie just makes them sit and wait for his inevitable death. It would be like if Black Hawk Down didn't have a helicopter crash until halfway through the movie.

Yes, when I saw the OP's title I laughed pretty hard. This is a movie with a lot of flaws and that's what make this movie perfect. You've got to buy into the flaws!

Comedy needs exaggeration

Yeah, and the kids in Friday the 13th should have been kept alive, too. They could have explored their lives, their ambitions. The ten sequels could have been the same. Kids camping and talking.

It's been a few years since I saw the movie, how did they prevent the corpse from decomposing?

reply

I feel like that would make it worse. You see enough of him to understand his life, his motives are unnecessary info.

Bernie makes it to the 30 minute mark of 100 minute movie.

So he is in it till a third of the way through. Not bad.
