How to kill god...

To kill god,
To undo all humanity,
to undo all,
To kill all that has existed,
To have satan rule the world,
You must.....

Say his name......backwards? wut? Dog.... nuthin happened.... oh his true name, its in a book? did someone write this book, sum1 evil rite? well why didnt he undo humanity? but its a movie right, arent movies supposed to be realistic, but its fantasy, so, people should still have common sense! its still not a bad movie though, just that one part annoyeed me, other than that it was a good movie.

whoever wrote it prolly didnt want to be destroyed. the witch must have had some deathwish. i dont see it as an annoyance. ever see dogma, if i recall the Azrael would rather not exist than to stay in hell.

its a movie about warlocks that fly, nails driven into dirt hurt him, hes got all these magical powers, thats all cool, but the fact that he wants to uncreate everything is a problem? crazy

He would of succesed if he said it straight away instead of saying I know thee I know thine name I know the word that can undo all you have wrought etc giving Kassandra time to sneak up on him and inject him with salty water

I wouldn't really worry about realism in a film about a time travelling warlock who can fly and cast ageing spells etc

"Don't make me roll for Initiative, Flameboy"

When Moses asked God his name and he answered "I AM that I AM. I AM has sent thee," he was referring to himself as "I AM" -hence creation.

Therefore, "saying it backwards" [eg. "I am not" ?]would negate creation, I suppose.

This is somewhat akin the the legend of the Golem where the word of life must be removed to remove life...

The name of God is Jehova

reply

Ahhh...not precisely.

Because of the commandment forbidding one taking the name of God in vain, the Jews vigorously avoided speaking or writing the true name of God as revealed to Moses.

Instead, they omitted the vowels and just wrote the consonants -mush the same way the hip, urban crowd avoid using their names and unstead concoct things like J-Lo, Bennifer, Branjelina and similar means of avoiding using their actual names.

Over time, the vowels were forgotten and all we were left with were the consonants...which could be said either as Jehova or Yahweh (the two most common interpretations)...depending on what vowels were used.

Both names are formed using the same Hebrew consonants, but the actual "name" of God as given to Moses has been lost to us.

That's the real name of YOUR variety of god. ;)

it is common magickal thought and also largely scientific thought that if one knows exactly how something is created then by doing the reverse can cause it to be undone. therefore by discovering gods "true" name and speaking it backwards would undo god and all things he had done which in the case of this movie, refers specifically to creation.

this supports most mythological view points of beings of power who believed that to know someones true name was to have power over them. this is also true with the gods of egypt because one particular myth dictates that Isis discovered the true name of Ra and from then on had power over him!

lord-sobek basically made the points I was going to make.

Particularly the second paragraph of his/her post as it pertains to the Warlock's seemingly silly procrastination; it would seem that he is establishing his advantage over God & probably plans to use this advantage not to undo creation but to make himself more powerful, the problem being, of course, that the Warlock seeks to use his power for evil.
I thought there was a chance for an interesting - & fantastically epic - conundrum to unravel whereby God would be forced to decide between having everything undone or empowering evil.

Might I also point out that the movie "Pi" has, as one of its relatively concurrent themes, the search for, & great importance of, God's name.

well at the end of the movie when he gets all 3 parts of the book together it's not like he flipping through the book looking for what god's real name is, it forms itself on the pages on it's own when all 3 parts were put together. so no one actually wrote it down.
also when first explaining how the world would end he doesn't just say backwards, he says backwards and forwards, which i took as saying it correctly and repeatedly.

Illusions Micheal. A trick is something a whore does for money...or candy.
