The Plane?

Okay, let me get this straight. The warlock goes through all that trouble to make a flying potion -- finding an unbaptized child, killing him, cutting out his flesh and cooking it -- and then he takes a plane to Boston? Aren't spellcasting satanists supposed to be smart?

Maybe he cant fly as fast as a plane so taking the plane might be quicker

I believe it was cut from the movie, but was mentioned in the novel. The warlock had lost the "eyes of satan" which were guiding him. The warlock then concocts a compass composed of a rooster with a rope tied to its tail to track Redferne. The warlock has no way of finding the bible now and is forced to follow instead of be followed. If he did not get on the plane, he would probably have to track Redferne across the country. After that period of flying or walking, they would have found the book and ran with it. He was showing foresight by realizing they would go after the book and save him the trouble of looking.

He knew or thought Redfern knew where the third part was. The Warlock needed time to cook up some more flesh to be able to fly. Redfern was getting on that plane, the Warlock needed time it create the flying potion, makes perfect sense why the Warlock was there.

You said Aren't spell casting satanists supposed to be smart?

Why would he be smart? He loves the great deceiver not very smart. He is also three hundred years into the future. He is lost remember the eyes led him by road, so lets say he can fly at the same speed as the plane but needs to follow roads, okay is that easier for you?
