Bluray released in Scandinavia on the 23/11

Any fans of this film should take notice that this has just been released in Scandinavia. Its one of those combined dvd/bluray releases. Its quite cheap too at about $14. In anamorphic remastered widescreen.
I placed my order yesterday. I have not seen it since it was released in the theatres.
If anyone wants I would be happy to let you know about the release when I get it.

Nice.

Any chance it's region-free?

Judging by Soul Media's past releases it will most likely be Region B locked. Picture quality isn't exactly at the core of Soul Media so I wouldn't buy this sight unseen, you may even run the risk of it being 1080i/50Hz. If this is anything like the transfer used for the Austrian BD release then I wouldn't bother.

Ok,so I watched Warlock last night. The good news is that it looks excellent. Both dvd and Bluray. Bad news is that there are no extras whatsover, not even a trailer.
But its well worth picking up at that price. Lets hope Soul Media will release more like this.

Thanks for the info.

Is it region B locked?

This is the same deal as the recent UK release. Is there some reason they can't have extras?

reply

*shrugs* Might have something to do with the legal rights to the film. After all, the original film studio/production company went bankrupt a long time ago...which gave the film itself a late release in theaters. Maybe it also carries over to its legal rights too. Though I pretty much assumed that has been with Trimark now for a number of years. Another explanation might be that they just don't view Warlock as enough of a cult hit, so they figure why bother trying to legally get cut footage for it in the first place? Again, i'm no expert on the film industry. Just merely speculating is all...

~I think so Brain, but who would want a pierced Brosnan?~

I believe Lionsgate has the rights now. Though I do agree that finding the original footage that was cut could be difficult at this point. Warlock was available on home video in the UK and some other areas before ever being released theatrically here. Though Heathers has a special edition dvd and that film was coming out theatrically at about the same time Warlock was wrapping up, so it is possible.

I just bought the german blu-ray while on a trip in Vienna.

The picture looks excellent.

It has the 20th Century Fox logo on the cover (and on the print), but the blu-ray is NOT being released by Fox. Rather, it has been licensed to another, smaller company.

It looks like Fox currently owns the rights, but seeing that Warlock is not a big movie, they're probably not too interested in releasing it in disc form.

I suspect the HD remaster is all Fox, though, as it's just too good for it to have a been the work of a small company with no access to the source materials.

This HD remaster is probably being used for HD broadcasting, and licensed to smaller companies interested in releasing it on BR/DVD.

Lionsgate has the US distribution rights to Warlock and its sequels.

Some international distribution rights may belong to Fox though. I believe the UK DVD release by Second Sight is also licensed from Fox.
