This was made when Karate Kid 3 was with Lively in it also. I was surprised to read this came out in 89. The clothing seems sunday school-ish..and was a bit sunday school-ish. Thought about revisiting the movie but looks like a made for tv family movie. I love rewatching 80's movies I haven't seen in years but I think I'm gonna pass on this.

lol.....what are u seriously mad at me for saying the clothes in the 80's sucked???? You do know its not a personal attack on you or people in your age bracket right? Im aware that all clothes eventually do go out of style and we'll eventually be mocked....calm down

*beep* BET!!! How do you bring back a show as something completely different?!??!!?!?!

Well it was released in 1989 and mostly likely filmed in 1988. I was about 10 in 1989 and I do remember girls wearing clothes just like you see in this movie. Even the tutu lol.
Especially the clothes that Louise wore after she became popular were very trendy at the time. Lace, pearls, stonewashed and acid washed denim, shoulder pads, big hair. It was all very much in fashion in 1989.

Wow, Spacejam. Jeb's text speak is hard to read but you're the one giving me a headache.

You ARE overreacting.

She said she thinks 80s clothes sucked. She can have that opinion. She never said she wasn't making fun of 80s clothes. She said that her opinion about 80s clothes WASN'T a PERSONAL attack on you or anyone who wore those clothes. She wasn't saying teens in the 80s were awful people for wearing those clothes.

YOU seem to be the one having a hard time separating your distaste for the clothes from your distaste for the wearer.

And your two scenarios are far too limited. The ONLY options are that all clothes were fine, despite our opinions, or that all clothes were ugly and we just have a misconception about the clothes we wore? Whatever.

Yes, for many people, it is somewhat subjective and they will think their generation had pretty good taste. Part of this is because you have fond memories from when you wearing that stuff.

But it is also possible for people to think some generations got it better than others. We are, in fact, free to hold this opinion. 80s clothes were overall, pretty tacky. And I say this as someone who really loves many aspects of 80s clothing! But there was lots of tacky stuff going on. On the other hand, I think fashions from the 40s and 50s are nicer, classier.

I was still in elementary school in 1989 but I do remember teenagers wearing stuff like that, it was in teen and fashion magazines, on tv shows, movies. I think a lot of the clothes of 1989-91 were uglier than clothes from the rest of the 80s. Ugly spandex shorts, neon colors, acid wash jeans were still around. I think the early 80s and mid-80s had some of the better fashion. Being a kid I didn't have to worry much about that, but looking back I see things I would or wouldn't wear now lol. I didn't like a lot of 90s fashion either, too baggy, and a lot of flannel and ugly dresses, bad time to be a teen then lol.

Anything I could have said I felt somehow that you already knew

I thought most of the 80's clothes were ugly too but I really liked the 50's styles and loved everything earlier than that time period.

Looks like someone is overreacting or still wearing their hair teased out with lots of Aquanet!

It's Jeb's opinion that 80's clothes sucked--so what? Who cares? 80's clothes are hysterical, to say the least.

You're really freaking out over someone's opinion on the internet? You need to get a better hobby.

I agree with jaysgurl, I love 40s/50s era clothes.

What are you talking about? With exception of the tutu (never liked) the clothes are awesome!!! Miss the 80's clothes. At least they had style and fit the body, esp. jeans on guys. You could check out their butts back then than what they are wearing now. Baggy pants & showing underwear? YUCK!!! Things matched and a girl cared about her appearance.
