WHY MUST ALL 80'S REMAKES BE RUINED?????

First there's this movie - - I was angry as *beep* when I found out Ashley Tisdale will star in it! This movie doesn't need a remake! And now Zac Efron will be in Footloose? What? I swear to God I don't even know what's going to happen if they ever lay a finger on the Breakfast Club. These movies do not need remakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

reply

I completely agree! Footloose is one of my favorite movies, and I am disgusted that they are even thinking about re-making such a classic as that! And then this movie with Ashley Tisdale? Please! That is just a lame excuse to put a Disney character into a new kind of film that would hopefully attract her fans. And then I also heard about a remake of Adventures in Babysitting where Miley Cyrus and Raven Symone would be the stars of it. Now I adore the original of Adventures in Babysitting with Elizabeth Shue as the lead. But a remake of it would just be horrible! Especially with that casting! And if they ever even mention that they are remaking Breakfast Club, I will personally write a letter to the company that is considering it and complain severely!

reply

I will scream with horror if the Breakfast Club is ever remade... and if Zac Efron or any cast from High School Musical is going to be in it, I will be very, very angry and I will join your complaint. These movies do not need remakes!!!!!!!!!!

reply

I was talking to one of my friends about this, I DO NOT want them to remake any of these movies. If they actually did, the only way I would like them is if they were EXACTLY like the originals.

"Every song ends, but is that any reason not to enjoy the music?"

reply

If they ever remade The Breakfast Club I think I'd quit the business. lol

They wouldn't dare remake Adventures in Babysitting with that slut Miley Cyrus.

In the words of Elizabeth Shue "Don't *beep* with the babysitter!"

Mrs Voorhees is watching you!

reply

They aren't doing Adventures In Babysitting with them, I don't think, and hope they stop the madness! BUT, unfortunately they are going to remake Girls Just Want To Have Fun and Miley Cyris will star in it! I don't get these Directors, Producers, etc... wanting to put these little Disney Stars into movies that were made in the 80's and are CLASSICS and wouldn't work out in the same way now in the 2000's!!!! And why these Disney stars? Because they have these stalker-ish fans following them on the net and *beep* I don't think that's good enough, they need to expand their horizons more and they need to see that's there's kids/teens out there with more talent and deserve a shot, but whatever. And what did happen to Raven???

I actually don't like the idea of remaking these classic 80s movies either, but you know how hollywood is...far from original and cashing in on the teen star power. Footloose might turn out well, but I don't know about Teen Witch. Wow, will the originals be forgotten?..Kind of sad.

reply

they are redoing GREAT movies cus they are obviously out of movie ideas and are just taking old scripts and making new movies. this is a sad state of affairs.
just like making old tv shows into movies. um get a NEW idea of christ sakes

All that I can say about this remake is...

"They can do all that they can, but they'll never TOP THAT!"

reply

This movie sucked ass anyway so it's not like the remake could screw it up. There was no antagonist which leads to no plot which is like the first you learn about when making movies, you need an antagonist to counter the protagonist and without that the "good" character has nothing to overcome. Also nothing was resolved in the end, it ended with Louise and Brad dancing at the prom, that's crap.

reply

WHY WHY WHY WHY would anybody think its a good idea to remake this movie ....some one thinks they can make it less crappy

reply

I agree. There are too many remakes these days, and not enough original films !. Plus, the original " Teen witch " is brilliant , as are most original films !.

reply

I love this movie and I remember watching it when I was in elementary school. However, if they do a remake I will watch it because I love it so much, but I know it will not compare. The remake better be 10x better, but we all know it wont, it will just be a lame teeny boppy movie for fans of high school musical. Will it go to theaters? or just straight to dvd or made for tv movie?

anyone know?

Life's a bitch and then you die...deal with it!

They are remaking these movies because, a lot of the Hollywood people pitching the remakes were fans of the original, so they think there might be some win by re-introducing these movies to a younger generation. But, the problem is, most remakes tend to forget everything that made the originals great, and become rather soulless revisions, carrying over the more basic of premises, but lack of the "umph" that the originals had that resonated with people. I'm not listing any examples, because there's far too many that get this point across.

Regarding Adventures in Babysitting remake, I hear it's actually(for some strange reason) a sequel called "More Adventures in Babysitting", which will probably now no relation to the original, but is a loose sequel like, hmmm, Home Alone 3.

I'm glad this is getting a remake, i probably won't watch it but its need a remake. This isn't as good as everyone is making it out to be. I watched it today (being a huge fan of all 80s films) and came away dissapointed.

Go Ahead! Make my day!

It made me made enough about footloose and the karate kid but now there's "fun size" which might as well be adventures in babysitting!

reply

Adventures In Babysitting already had a remake called The Sitter.

reply

Well yea but that's not a family movie

I liked this flick but I have to admit, it's really dated. It could use an update.

How are things on the West Coast?

The Cheesy 80sness of this movie is what makes it great!!! In no other decade could you get away with those tacky outfits, those huge perms, the terrible OTT rapping, the randomly choreographed dance sequences, the 1950s nerd stereotypes etc This movie is practically made of tacky 80s fluff, take that away and there's nothing left

If you are in LA come to The Groundlings Theater on Jan 21st 2013 and see the live musical show. It's a very loving tribute. I mean it! Louise, Rhett, and Polly all came and approved.
