They are remaking these movies because, a lot of the Hollywood people pitching the remakes were fans of the original, so they think there might be some win by re-introducing these movies to a younger generation. But, the problem is, most remakes tend to forget everything that made the originals great, and become rather soulless revisions, carrying over the more basic of premises, but lack of the "umph" that the originals had that resonated with people. I'm not listing any examples, because there's far too many that get this point across.
Regarding Adventures in Babysitting remake, I hear it's actually(for some strange reason) a sequel called "More Adventures in Babysitting", which will probably now no relation to the original, but is a loose sequel like, hmmm, Home Alone 3.
