the ending really doesnt fit or work with what has been established already.

So basically the ending says by giving Serena the necklace she gave up her powers and all her spells were broken. However that doesnt make sense because A: Serena says beginner spells are weak and that WATER reverses them . And B: she had powers before she gets the necklace so perhaps the necklace just makes them stronger? Even so getting rid of the necklace wouldnt totally erase her powers or reverse the spells particularly if being a witch is in her blood. Also there were plenty of times during the popular girl song and other moments when her powers worked but she wasn't wearing the necklace. If we are supposed to believe the ending wouldnt all her spells be reversed when she removes the necklace?

I think it's more of a choice kind of thing. She chooses to continue a stronger person without using her powers. BTW being a 37 year old man posting about teen witch, I deserve a kick in the balls. That being said, I love this movie because my sister and I used to watch it all the time and torture my father with it. He Hated it.

What I find confusin is Serena was just telling her to not give them up, then at the dance she picks up the necklace from Louise, and she's smiling. And then brad dances with her anyway. So if she gives away her powers, does he still like her anyway? Or does she give her powers to Serena for safekeeping so she doesn't make any more spells but she keeps the ones she already made. I just watched this movie for the first time in like 12 years and now I don't get it.

Never cared much for the ending either. I always thought Serena laughed because she was happy that Louise was choosing to be herself. Remember, Serena told her that she used her powers just as Louise to make people like her. Louise is a witch and she will always have powers so her tossing away the amulet was symbolic of her giving up her magic in that life to be herself. I say that because Serena stated that the amulet was Louise's and it would always find Louise, even in her next life. Also, the spell was broken after Louise was spun around in the opposite direction to break the spell. When the spell was broken, Brad was no longer under the spell of her popularity. Brad always liked Louise before the spell and he still liked more her afterwards which is why he walked toward her at the end.

I am not sure if she can't run out of powers. The movie never explained much about the witch powers, remember how Serena told she used the last of her powers, when they were doing the popularity magic. So I guess in a way it is possible a witch to lose her powers. The movie never explained how or why either. But I don't think that it was the main idea. The main idea was that Loise found out which things are important in life, like her best friend and such.

Now about Brad, I think he liked her for herself and wasn't under her magic. Maybe where popularity was concerned, but I got the impression he liked her even before that and was warming up to her. Not to mention the talk on the boat, he felt pressure because of his popularity and I think he really meant it when he said to her he liked her for her self, because she isn't fake. And she was not, not like the queen bee was, she never lied or pose, she was her self. Of course she felt of the wagon a little, but who wouldn't in her situation, right. She came to her senses and never put the love spell over Brad.

The ending was a little unsatisfying. Maybe because we as audience were left to figure most staff on our own, where in most modern movies like this one we have it clear and shown that the main character has to make amends for their actions, but here we didn't see it. So yes the end was kind of what that was it :) but after all it is a cheesy movie from the 80 so I am cutting them some slack.

You're right, if water reverses spells then why was she still popular after day one?

I always thought she took off her necklace and gave tossed it to Serena because Serena sacrificed the last of her powers to help make Louise popular.
