It was probably late 80s early 90s, this teen or tween girl would always change her outfit as soon as she got to school - she'd leave the house in something boring to fool her parents, and then as soon as she got to school she'd change into like a mini and a boob tube and frizzy hair..
Then one day she forgets that it's Yearbook Picture Day but she's already changed into her 'cool' outfit and it's too late to change so she ends up getting photographed like that. The camera keeps clicking even as she's getting up from the chair.. :)
I remember ONE line from the movie and one line only, something her friend says to her in the cafeteria: "--and that girl is 100% pure polyester."
NOTE: It's not that episode of Degrassi Junior High.. :)
Tiptoe by the window, by the window that is where I'll be.
How funny. I just did some googling to see if I could help you find the name of the movie and I actually thought I might get the answer when I saw someone had asked about it on Yahoo Answers...and then I saw that you were the person asking!
It sounded familiar to me but now I'm not so sure. I might have just been confusing it with Teen Witch (minus the picture day portion).
UPDATE: It is not Teen Witch, Degrassi Junior High, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, 13 Going On 30, Heathers, Valley Girl, Wish Upon A Star, or Hairspray :(((
Just wondering if you ever found the movie you were looking for. I could swear that the quote you are talking about is from "Just One of the Guys". It is also an 80's flick, but the main character ends up going undercover and dresses like a guy while attending different school because she wants to prove she can be a journalist and get a good story. I might be way off but figured I would ask just in case.
Thank you for the suggestion, I'll definitely look it up. Buuuuut it doesn't sound like a match so far, my mystery movie definitely doesn't take place in college :(
Just One of the Guys isn't set in college. It's about a female high school student who wants to become a journalist, but strongly believes her skills are being overlooked because she's a female. So she enrolls in another high school and disguises herself as a male.
It's not the movie you're looking for, but it's a great movie to watch. If you like 80's teen movies, then you might enjoy this one.
I've gone through a list of movies that might be the one you are looking for, but can't seem to find the right premise. I'm going to ask some more questions in hopes of jogging your memory. I'm curious to know what this movie is. It might be my memory playing tricks on me, but I feel like I have seen a scene like the one you mentioned with her changing outfits... but it could very well be making something up.
Is there anything else you can remember about this movie? Who the actors/actresses were? Even supporting cast or a very minor one. Do you think it was a Made-for-TV movie or had a theatrical release?
she'd leave the house in something boring to fool her parents, and then as soon as she got to school she'd change into like a mini and a boob tube and frizzy hair. Then one day she forgets that it's Yearbook Picture Day but she's already changed into her 'cool' outfit and it's too late to change so she ends up getting photographed like that. The camera keeps clicking even as she's getting up from the chair.
What happens after this? Do her parents find out? If they do, did they get pissed? Ground her? How was she punished? Was her style ever accepted by her family? Did she have to be comforted by a friend?
Did she have a love interest in the movie? How about a best friend? What about an enemy? Even if it was just someone who made fun of her. Did she have any siblings? A brother? A sister? What color was her hair?
Okay, I'll end it there. =P I just hope I can help with figuring out what this movie is.

Bless you for asking so many questions but I can barely answer one of them..! :)
- I have no clue who the actors were. - I don't know if it was made-for-tv or a feature film, I just know that it aired on a Sunday afternoon during "Family Hour" which was usually a Disney movie and was always preceded by an episode of Duck Tales, Chip n Dale, or TaleSpin.. - As for the rest of the movie, I can literally only recall those two scenes (the cafeteria and the yearbook picture). You'd think a movie that features so heavily in my memory would consist of more footage! Sometimes I wonder if those two scenes are even from the same movie.. - Maybe she had a little brother.. - SHE WAS A BRUNETTE! Haha, I remember that much. Yaaay. :(

My sympathies lie with you, Kristette. I know the feeling. Information lost in your own mind, as the folks over at Shout! Factory call it. I have Googled, scoured Wikipedia, researched IMDb, but the bottom line is that when you do not know the title, and can't remember any of the actors, you're up (well, a raging river) with no paddle. I'll just bet you cannot remember that girl's face, so you cannot even describe her, how infuriating, I know.
I won't bother to regale you with my own quests for movies (not really that old) I cannot place, but to anybody who sees this, there should be a department on IMDb where people can convene and give descriptions of their 'lost movies' and so inspire others to aid in their search. I'd even suggest IMDb merit badges awarded for correct info leading to 'apprehension of the escaped animals'...!
Scrolling down your thread, I was mentally hoping for the best for your sake. Alas, no luck, I see. Gee, pal, I specialize in glam movies, and even I draw a blank. But I'd keep a sharp lookout, and will come back to this little TEEN WITCH corner if I have any good news.
Meanwhile, if only IMDb could implement my suggestion, a LOST INFO section... But how do you petition something so worthwhile when IMDb itself rejects unwarranted emails?
Anyway, I can tell you one thing: Research! Scour! I have managed to regain lost info, I have found lost movies! Sweet victories when you watch them again! You cry! :)
RavenGlamDVDCollector here once more. I just went through my entire Movie Register which represents DVDs that I own, and came up empty-handed. As for TV, that is a big question you'd have to answer: Movie or TV?
I must say that while the first bit of your description does ring a bell, the Yearbook bit does not. The previous poster did ask you very pertinent questions, all along very crucial lines, a great friend, I assure you.
I'd try one more trigger: How come you are so sure this movie came out at the same time as TEEN WITCH? I gather you were reminded of it by the outfit-switcheroo scene in TEEN WITCH, but are you sure about the movie's vintage? If you are, why? This in itself might be a clue.
In closing for this day's questioning, was this a romantic teen movie? Just trying to rule out genres like slasher movies. And was this girl the main character?
Anyway, keeping your quest in mind! Interested in the result!
