Greece

I saw this many years ago on a Minneapolis winter afternoon, and walked out into a snowy, icy grey day. I vowed someday I'd go to Greece. A year and a half ago I finally did, spending 2 weeks in Athens and the Pelopennesian Peninsula. We didn't get to Mykonos, where this was filmed (and which I have been told is a lot more commercial now than in the film) but my husband and I loved Greece so much. It's incredible how gorgeous the Mediterranean is there, and how nice the people are.
I saw this movie again today for only the second time, and watched it with my husband this time. We really enjoyed it. I especially liked the ending, which I didn't remember from before. It leaves open the possibility that her husband might be re-habilitated by the island, and learn to laugh again. It was also funny that Costas decided to clear out before he arrived!

I went to Mykonos in the early 1990s - it was a very prosperous island. Beautiful but definitely a place for the rich and gays!

A girlfriend and I hired scooters and we went to Shirley's tavern! I really wanted to stay the summer working on the island, but it was early in the season and no work going, so we moved onto another island.

Mykonos is very urban compared to some of the neighbouring islands.
