Bumping into Pacino
In the scene where Pacino is walking along with Barkin and a guy bumps into him pretty hard, do you think that was planned?
shareIn the scene where Pacino is walking along with Barkin and a guy bumps into him pretty hard, do you think that was planned?
shareThat moment is discussed on the special edition DVD of the film. According to producer Martin Bregman and director Harold Becker, that moment was not planned. They had hired extras for the scene, but because it is New York City, anyone can pop up and make their way into a scene. Being the great actor that he is, Pacino did not stop and kept saying his lines as if nothing happened.
shareI thought it was Vancouver!
By the way, that reminds me of a spooky coincidence... see "spooky coincidence" thread!
Hey Phil, how come you're pouring this juice?
It was filmed in both New York City and Toronto.
shareOh! Well does anyone know how I can find out exactly where these scenes were filmed? Like the shoe shop, the school etc?
Hey Phil, how come you're pouring this juice?
Yes. I reside in NYC and most of the exteriors are NYC...damn near all from what I saw. I guess the interiors were in Canada then.
shareIt's on the DVD extras. Interiors in Toronto and the rest in New York.
shareThat was hysterical...you could totally tell it wasn't planned and Pacino stuck with it...what an actor.
sharehow come helen was smiling so much? lol
shareWell, since he resides in NY, I'm sure he's used to getting bumped into on the street. You walk and talk and you get bumped.
Well after watching it, the guy did knock him back about 5 ft.......they both couldn't stop laughing. LOL
That guy must've bumped into him on purpose, he had to have seen the cameras there.
Also during this scene, is it me or can you hear applause or cheering that sounds like it was coming from the street on the other side. Was an audience doing that while the scene was being filmed. Many times Ellen Barkin looks over to the other side you can tell.
shareDang, I wish I hadn't deleted it just this morning. I'd go back and watch that scene. I wondered about bump myself, but didnt notice EB reactions or crowd noise. I wanted to come on to imdb this morning as i watched it (4AM), but since it was my first time, I didn't want it ruined by those geniuses who post spoilers in subject.. "OMG so and so was killer, I knew it!".
Then they complain, dude, it's not my fault you came here before finishing movie, as if this feature AND the WORD "SPOILER" were made just for kicks and have no true purpose in IMDB land
Little part's like that make the movie special if you ask me.
shareIf you haven't gotten the DVD yet...it tells you in there that it was someone that wasn't even in the movie that did that. No, it was not a planned thing and you can see Pacino's reaction after the guy bumps into him...he laughs but keeps playing his lines. Great acting!!
shareThe guy bumping hard into Pacino was not planned and was not an extra. It was just someone in NY, and the pro Pacino is, he just resumed in character and played on. Also in the end of the film, you'll see people looking at Al Pacino walking down the street with Ellen Barkin. Those are not extras or planned. They are just regular people in NY that recognized Pacino. I'd be staring too.
Is it okay if I do it for mom and not you? 'Cause I really like mom.
If it was Chris Noth, he would have blown a gasket.
shareI'm so glad they kept it in the movie, it made for a funny moment. It also seemed to break the tension between the two.
shareI'll bring up the Trivia section, throw a wad of gum at it and start thread based on whatever I hit.
Won't that be *beep*
Perhaps the OP just wants to reach out for some sense of community.
