What makes them violent or psychotic in every zombie film?
I guess this one has a halfway plausible excuse with the evil burial mound. But most of the time there is no good reason.

The dead humans in 1 & 2 and the book are dead corpses possessed by a Wendigo (a Native American cannibalistic, psychic, insane and homicidal trickster spirit demon of folklore which in the book it said that it soured the ground and cursed it) and they come back as demons who return to torment the living and know secrets of living people. The animals are also dead corpses possessed by other demons/spirits that inhabited the ground.
Basically like Deadites.

shareIt varies from culture to culture when it came to the undead. In Romania, the strigoi were the undead beings that killed people. In North America, there's the Wendigo, the malevolent dead thing who induces cannibal appetites. And of course in China you have the jianshi.
