The ending cuts me up almost as much as the transport scene

Louis Creed lost his son, and he was brought back to life but at the end of the movie he had the potential to say goodbye to his son, to tell him that he loved him and misses him. Instead we see Gage looking sad, walking away from his father and pouting, "No fair".

To me that was almost as heartbreaking as his initial death. One could argue that when he came back to life, he really wasn't the same person and was evil but none the less it did tug at the heartstrings just a bit.

Greif makes people crazy. They would do anything to bring their loved one back. That's what makes the ending so tragic.

That's why I thought this movie was good because you can watch it just for the horror story itself, or you can look at it a symbolism of what grief can do and I just thought it did a quite good job overall. And normally I would have wished the VERY final scene would have gone differently, but I didn't think there was much of another way to end the movie, as he was so far gone due to grief, anyway, at that point.

The ending transcended horror and pushed it into tragedy territory.

The final act is over loaded with emotion. I can remember watching Pet Sematary for the very first time when I was seventeen years old. Gages death moved me to tears and the ending, absolutely heart breaking.

It's all a deep end.

His son was still a creature of darkness and attacked his father. It wasn't easy for him losing his son twice.
