Some observations about this and a similar film...
I just now finished watching this, and I have to say this is one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen and I pretty much cried through the entire last portion of the film, and I don't cry at movies usually, Im a huge horror fan and have seen just about everything from the sick and twisted to the mundane when it comes to my viewing choices, but I can't remember the last time something touched me so deeply, it is so poignant and heartbreaking, and almost devastating in it's own way, I can't even describe all of the emotions this has left me with. Did anybody else cry? I can't be the only one... I hope Im not the only one.
The story reminded me a little bit of The Four Diamonds, ( a Disney movie based on a true story) both have characters who are sick and using a fantasy world to escape, Anna with her drawing while she is ill with a fever (What caused her to get sick anyways?) and in the Four Diamonds the main character beings to write a story for a school assignment, but he quickly comes to use his writing as a means to escape. The story is set in the times of the nights of the round table while in the real world he battles leukemia. In his story in order to become a true knight he must defeat an evil sorceress and a black knight.
The similarities are there, and I can see parallels between the two, but it is hard to compare them to other movies. While Paper House is a very unique film I want to find others out there that are this good. Has anybody else seen The Four Diamonds? Are there even any films like this anymore?
