Great Movie
I went into this expecting it to be a horror, and I don't think it was at all, but I must say I still really enjoyed it. The plot is so simple and yet very layered as well. The soundtrack works very well, and I think most of all it is a very character driven movie. It's about relationships, between friends, lovers, and family. I thought the characters all seemed so real and Anna's family seemed like an actual family, and even though the movie started off with Anna being precocious and annoying, by the end she was quite endearing. It had a very uplifting and still somewhat melancholic ending and I think even the credits were well done (I won't say anymore and spoil anything). Definitely a great little film. There weren't really any horror elements except for one or two scenes, but I still found it very satisfying. I think next to Stand By Me I haven't seen any film do a better job of showing both the simplicity and depth of childhood friendships. Anyone else agree?
