okay, please don't laugh but....

Im actually interested, if not fascinated in purchasing this film, Ive only read reviews, and how it has made people feel after watching it, some remembering their experience twenty years after seeing it. But as I said, please don't laugh but I'm actually really rather terrified. I mean, I'm not a horror person, I'm scared of anything, and don't really consider it entertainment. I'm more into the fantasy side of things, and the creation in this film, of turning drawings into life seems to invite me. But yes, seriously Im terrifyed just thinking about it. All I heard is a ten minute scene involving hammers and a rather evil looking Ben Cross. I'm rather shaking in my boots just thinking about it Should I get this? or will I be scared for life? I think I might be, if the thought alone, is making me not want to get off my computer and climb into bed, even though I'm a grown 20 year old girl!

If theres someone out there who has some advise I would be very grateful, as I'm torn.

If it makes you feel better, I wasn't scared of anything in this movie, and I'm a pretty big chicken. There are some intense scenes, but nothing I would call scary.

I guess scary is a relative thing. I think the father with the hammer scene is really, really scary.

Although it is quite scary at parts, it ends on a positive note, as I remember.

I would love to get this on DVD. I have a very worn out copy of it I got off either HBO or Cinamax way back in the 90's. This was one of the movies the older kids I took care of loved to watch. Personally I think the movie is underated and it's a favorite of mine. I just wish my copy of it wasn't so worn out from watching it so much when I was younger.

That's great, spit at the fat kid- Vern in STAND BY ME.

This film is brilliant. I can't praise it enough. I firsgt saw it when I was about nine and the hammer/Dad sequence ("I'm BLIND!") frightened me and when she is photoing him on the rocks and he jumps forward I seem to recall soiling my undergarments. The soundtrack to this film is also top notch. Love to buy it. saw it on ebay once but was *beep*

'tremble', it's worth seeing! It's more fairy-tale scary than violent-disturbing. Watch it with friends! It's been one of my favorite movies since I saw it 17 years ago!

The scariest parts of the film are the dad's realllly deep, menacing voice and the bit with him being blinded. Eeep! They should have done more with the rocks, as they were freaking terrifying in the book (and I read the book as an adult and felt ashamed for being scared but these freaking rocks were CREEEEPY!!)

The other thing that freaked me out was the radio. I didn't even know it was actually saying stuff until I read it online.
