is the UK DVD of paperhouse anamorphic?

does anyone know whether the UK DVD of paperhouse is anamorphic?

reply

My copy put out by Magna Pacific says that it is. I have no 16x9 television to test that on, though.

i have the magna pacific australian release. i believe it is the same disc as the uk version (it is actually dual region 2+4, but not labelled as such).

it is dvd5, 16:9 and anamorphic encoded. interestingly, though, the original film frame seems to be closer to 16:10, so it will be very slightly pillarboxed on a 16:9 screen. on a 4:3 screen it may be boxed on all four sides.

bought and watched the UK DVD: yes, it is anamorphic. and was a real treat to see the movie again after 17 years or so. a great little gem.

reply

Yes the DVD is anamorphic, and yes it is pillarboxed when viewed on a widescreen TV as the movie was shot and shown in 1:66 ratio.
