Recent hotel photos (links)

I spent the last week of April (2010) in Ilfracombe so I took the opportunity to take some photos of the Royal Britannia Hotel as seen near the end of the film.

Unfortunately the hotel has been gutted during renovation work and is currently incased by scaffolding. Good to see though that the front (back?) door is still the same one that was in use 23 years ago when the film was made.

Wow those are great. If you go back can you grab some more photos of what it looks like now, after the renos? Also, were you able to go inside at all? It looks very nice there, is it a nice place for a vacation?

Sorry for the rather belated reply and thank you for your kind comment.

I did go back last year and to be honest the outside of the hotel looks no different. Internally the 'reception' area today is so different to the film that I doubt that it was filmed there,even if the 'bedroom' scene was.

I posted up a few photos from last year on the 'Paperhouse' group on Facebook.
