They made a whole new group of friends after the last group was killed?

Alice and Dan must have been juniors or seniors in high school in Part 4, but they had time to make a whole new group of friends in such a short period of time? They also seemed like a pretty tight knit group with history. One of the many problems with this movie I guess!

Well, just because you can't make friends doesn't mean everybody else has the same problem.

In all seriousness, it's possible that these were friends we just didn't get to know during the story told in The Dream Master. Keep in mind that Kristen in The Dream Master had two sets of friends -- those leftover from the third and completely new, completely unknown group. There was virtually no overlap between the two groups.

Now look, obviously this explanation is a stretch, but what do you want? They needed to flesh out the cast for another sequel and thus a new group of friends emerged. It was never outright stated how old the kids were in The Dream Master, and since The Dream Child takes place (mostly) after graduation, you can allow a little bit of leeway provided you don't scrutinize too hard. This is, afterall, the fifth entry in a horror series from the '80s. Be grateful there's any consistency at all.

You don't have to be a dick about it. I understand what the OP means.

In part 5 Alice acts as though she's been BEST friends with those ppl all her life since like Kindergartern, and part 5 is only like 6 monthes to MAYBE a year after part 4.

I mean in MOST cases NORMALLY you're not gonna act like you've been friends with someone your whole life with friends you've made just a couple of monthes ago.

And another funny thing is, Alice seems SO CLOSE to them, yet they have no knowledge of the events of Alice's life from the previous movie.

I always assumed the kids in 4 were Alice & Rick's friends. The kids in 5 seemed more like Dan's friends that Alice became friends with when she started dating Dan,

"I'm just not used to being chased around a mall in the middle of the night by killer robots!"

We learn almost nothing about Dan in part 4. How do you know these people weren't already Dan's best friends that Alice became close with after they got together?

Or the fact that people can, and do, make close friends fast all the time. I know I have.

At the end of part 4, Alice came out of her shell so was able to make new friends more easily.

It just seems strange that ppl would be come THAT close in such a short time.

In the script, Alice, Greta and Yvonne do a little dance at the graduation, like "the 3 of us together for now and always" It was cut b/c ppl thought it was corny, BUT I could see friends carrying on like that who have been friends since like CHILDHOOD, but just when you've met someone a few monthes ago it seems odd I think.

I have a lot of friends, and quite a few very close friends. But my best friend in the entire universe was somebody I grew super close to and considered my absolute best friend in less than one year. That was years ago, and we're only closer now.

Some people make strong bonds fast. I have my entire life. So this never, ever seemed like a discrepancy to me. But I imagine for people who are only close to childhood friends, or who need years to build strong bonds, this would seem odd.

I know this has been wondered abuot MANY times. I've had some theories:

I wondered where Greta, Mark and Yvonne were in part 4, but the WHOLE group were all still friends in part 4, but Greta, Yvonne and Mark were just off-screen.

I could see pairs being good friends like Mark and Rick, Yvonne and Debbie, and Kristen and Greta. These pairs are also similar.

Or maybe they were Dan's friends, and over time become Alices.

But what I find so strange is, Alice seems SO CLOSE to them like she's been best friends with them her whole life, yet none of them have any knowledge of the events that happened in Alice life from the previous movie.

I also wonder about where the part 4 ppl were during part 3, like where were Rick and Alice during part 3? Was Kristen still dating Rick and friends with Alice in part 3 off-screen?

Well if you compare it to previous Nightmare films, there were lots of times when people made close connections in a short period of time. In part 2: Jesse was the new kid and he became close with Grady and Lisa. Part 3: Nancy with Kristen and Neil. Part 4: Alice with Dan. Part 6: Maggie and John, she was devastated when he died. So I don't think it's that far-fetched, especially in this series, to believe that people can grow close in a short period of time.

But what I find so strange is, Alice seems SO CLOSE to them like she's been best friends with them her whole life, yet none of them have any knowledge of the events that happened in Alice life from the previous movie.

Well the town has not been a safe place for teenagers as Rick mentioned in part 4 so they probably didn't think it was anything strange that her friends were dead. Also, maybe Alice didn't mention her dead friends or told them not to talk about it because she wanted a fresh start. They must've known her brother was dead.

I also wonder about where the part 4 ppl were during part 3, like where were Rick and Alice during part 3? Was Kristen still dating Rick and friends with Alice in part 3 off-screen?

They were probably attending Springwood High because they weren't part of the Elm Street kids who were haunted by Freddy. Kristen was probably already friends with Alice before she was sent to the hospital.

Or maybe they were Dan's friends, and over time become Alices.

That could be a possibility since Greta was the most torn up over Dan's death. Maybe she was one of his ex girlfriends or had a crush on him. Mark seemed closer to Greta, he could've been her childhood friend. Yvonne seemed the closest to Alice, they were probably friends during part 4.

Yeah in part 5 it's almost as though Rick never existed, exepct for the vague mention from Mr Johnson how it'd be nice to hear a boy playing around in the house again.

I know in a lot of the credits ~I think here~ the little girl in part 3 is credited as Young Alice Johnson, I dunno if that's what they intended or not. Another cool thing is there IS a Rick Johnson on the credits of part 3! That is the guy's real name though.

But I was thinking if the whole gang was friends in part 4, that Greta, Yvonne and Mark should have known about all these deaths, b/c the whole school was in an uproar for a couple of them.

The Dream Child audio book DID kinda touch on this a little anyway, Alice mague comment to her friends like, "Remember what happened to all my friends a year ago...."
