Don't understand the hate for this + part 2, and the love for part 4...

On a re-watch of the series I thought part 4 was the worst and easily the most cheesy entry (I didn't bother with Freddy's Dead). And although not amazing I actually prefer this movie, the tone is better even if there's not as much gore. The fourth film is just pure 80's over-indulgence, it's too bright and everything just seems wrong to me (except the bug transformation that was pretty cool). I also don't understand the hate for part 2. Sure it's got flaws, but I actually quite like the fact Freddy is inside the kid, especially liked the scene when we first see him come out. It kinda reminded me of the transformation scene in American Werewolf. So what if it's got apparent 'gay undertones', it's still a decent film. And the third film, it's great fun, but I don't get why it's most fans favourite in the series. It's pretty goofy and REALLY cheesy. Not much happens until the end either. So yeah, I prefer the second film to parts 3 and 4 (do like 3 though, I just find it overrated) and I don't think this one is THAT bad.

Freddy's Revenge and Dream Child are my two favorite films of the series. In Dream Child especially I love the story, the effects and the characters. Wilcox gives her best performance as Alice, Mark is a lovable goof, Greta's pressure to be perfect is relatable and Yvonne has some good one-liners. The film also has a dark and twisted sense of humor, great cinematography, set design and a gothic atmosphere that is unrivaled in the series. It's also a substantial step up from Dream Master which was only as successful as it was because it was coming off the heels of Dream Warriors. I also think the reason this film wasn't as successful was because it was coming off of Dream Master. I love this franchise and especially Dream Child.

Both 2 and 5 seem to be the most hated (aside from the terrible Freddy's dead!) I just don't get it. I like them. Can't really sit through 4 though.

I like this too, but it was the fifth entry, and FREDDY'S NIGHTMARES was on TV, so Freddy was over exposed at this point.

This film was definitely rushed but I've always liked it. Once you get past the fact that Freddy is no longer scary, the movie has amazing visuals, likable leads and creative death sequences.

But still, you REALLY have to forgive the fact that these later entries lean more towards fantasy than horror.

I love all three films.

I'm with most fans on this with Elm Street 4 being my prefrence film of the trio but Elm Street 2 is pretty flipping amazing with it being dark and gritty.Part 5 is also pretty cool with it's complex story and interesting characters.I also love Freddy's Dead think it's pretty groovy it's self.So nothing really wrong about these films to me.
