I have cp that damaged my right side. I can walk and I'm not in nearly as bad shape as portrayed in the movie (and folks i've seen with the same condition at hospital appointments)..i walk with a limp and cant drive..

Anyway, I have heard about this movie for years and for some reason didn't get around to ever seeing it. As a kid I remember Siskel and Ebert raving about it.

Maybe I waited almost 20 years too long to see it. But I really didn't like it.

Granted Clancy has more talent than I will ever have for being in such condition but I thought he was such a bully at times that I didn't care what happened to him.

I liked the kid that played young Clancy better than DDL and would have liked to seen more of him.

There's another thread on this, but I loved "Inside I'm Dancing" (aka Rory O Shea was here) so much better than this.

I also remember a few years ago Roger Ebert raving about another cp movie called "Dance Me to My Song" (or something like that) about a girl with it. The movie really never saw the light of day. Ebert showed it one year at his film fest. I guess a studio never bought it for release.
