This is a fascinating idea that I haven't seen redone recently. Does anyone know if they're going to make a remake?

I'm watching it for the first time right now. I would love to see a current version with better special effects. Who do you think should play the lead roles?
I'm at the scene where Louise is telling the "people" in the pods about the shooting. The woman with the stretched out face is telling her that she needs to go back. Do her special effects look a lot like the stretched out last human from Dr. Who? I don't remember her name. It was when David Tennant was playing him.
