The terrible implications no one is mentioning

So these "more advanced" people come from a distant land a forcibly take innocent people against their will to a far off land to labor for them.

Now I suppose that maybe the plane was going to crash any ways so they would have been dead. The movie didn't make this clear I was thinking maybe they were causing the crash. But even if they found planes that were about to crash and they saved the people, does that give them the right to kidnap them and take them to their time? If Europeans found Africans who were being mauled by lions and took them to the Americas to be slaves would that be ok?

Although the movie did not strictly adhered to this, in the novel the team from the future only intervened in incidents involving 100% fatalities. They were not abducted to become slaves. In Louise's time the Earth is barely habitable and the human race is on the verge of extinction. The plan was to to retrieve victims of fatal accidents, replacing them with duplicates. The plan was to reverse the time gate and send them far into the future to repopulate the planet after it had time to repair the environmental damage.

I would recommend the novel, by John Varley.

Absolutely. And the novel and screenplay both came from Varley's earlier short story "Air Raid".

And, I suspect therealman either watched only part of the movie or was severely distracted while watching because the movie gets the gist of the story across quite well.
