Greatest Sports Comedy Movie Ever !
Yes, I loved Slap Shot with Paul Newman, but Major League is a more rounded movie with a great cast, with both Wesley Snipes and Rene Russo becoming A rated actors in the years following the movie. Also, writter and director David S. Ward did an awesome job. I never knew the following -- "Major League was a labor of love for Ward, who had lived in the Cleveland suburb of South Euclid as a child and who had rooted for the Indians' teams of the 1950s, including the 1954 American League Champions. "I figured the only way they were ever going to win anything in my lifetime was to do a movie and they'd win," says Ward."
In the movie commentary David Ward said that after filming "Jobu" disappeared and has never been found. Here's a great July 2010 Q & A interview with Jobu creator Eric Councell.

Last week, I bought the Major League - Wild Thing Edition (2007) for $6.00 and it's great.

Gosh, there was so many great feel-good movies made in the 1980's.
