OK, so one thing.

When Jake is the apartment with his ex, her fiancee and all the rich people, They make it seem like he is slumming it, making the major league minimum. The major league minimum in 1989 was 68,000 which, adjusted for inflation is about 125K in todays money. Now I know ballplayers today make a lot more (the minimum is almost 500k) but still, that isnt chump change.

Look at the company at the dinner party -- which is being held in a penthouse suite no less. Compared to them he's slumming it, and is only guaranteed that salary for another couple months, which was the point of Lynn's fiance. If he had stumbled into a backyard with a few couples throwing back PBR's, then league minimum would be a huge number to them, but how funny would that be? The way he confidently states "I make the league minimum" is phenomenal, basically stating he's the bottom of the barrel in MLB baseball talent after stating that your salary depends on how good you are.

They didnt make it seem like he was slumming it... He said you can make a lot of money depending on how good you are. When they asked him how good he was, he said he made the league minimum. So the looks were that obviously wasnt very good.
