Just Re-Watched

I just re-watched this movie after a while, and I have to say, I remembered this one being darker than most 007 movies... but wow! This one can be pretty tough to watch sometimes. That scene where Sanchez Lowers Felix into the shark tank is pretty gruesome... and it's made all the more disturbing considering it's a character we've gotten to know quite well over the years in previous films. Then you have a number of other very graphic deaths that seriously push the PG-13 rating to it's limits (I know it was rated R on it's first submission, but lowered on appeal I believe.) Granted the Ian Fleming novels are considerably darker than most of the films, so I supposed this was overdue.

Still like the film, don't get me wrong. Just quite a contrast compared to the rest of the series.

I love its edginess. It's also such a unique story for bond. People seem to completely forget about it, and Dalton's measured, complex performance as Bond, when gushing about Daniel Craig.

We just had a 4k showing in the local cinema of the uncut version - it was great!

Was that in Exeter?

No, Cheshire Oaks - double bill with Living Daylights which was also polished to 4k (for £10!). LTK really came across well on the big screen.

I went to one too (Vue). They both looked great didn't they? I remember seeing TLD as a kid at the cinema, and the cargo net falling out of the plane terrified me then. Was still impactful all this time later. What was your audience like? We had about 15, all really quiet and into the experience. Some nice conversations going on at the halfway point.
