How would Timothy Dalton have fared as a Bond villain?

He did very well for himself playing pretty pompous, arrogant dick-headed bad guys in stuff like The Rocketeer and Hot Fuzz.

He's a good actor, so could definitely pull it off. He held his own alongside Peter O'Toole, Katherine Hepburn, and Anthony Hopkins in "The Lion in Winter" when he was only 22.

Dalton could do either the hero or villain. He is a great actor. I even think at some point Dalton could had played M.
