'Odd' photo taken by Carey Lowell

What was "odd" about the photo taken by Carey Lowell?

reply

Q never explained the camera's function when she used it to take a photo of Q and Bond. It turned out to be an infrared X-Ray camera, hence her 'that's odd' reaction when she sees the developed X-Ray photograph.

But the 'oddest' thing about that photo - by far - was the fact that not only did you see the skeletons of both Q and Bond, both leaning out of the way of that laser beam, you also saw the skeleton of the person depicted in the photograph on the wall - which by far exceeds my expectation of the technology ...

Now THAT's odd!

reply

Well, the oddest thing is, that a camera, which is supposed to take x-ray pictures shoots a laser out of it's lense, which means you can't take that picture without killing or destroying someone/thing.

The laser fires out of the flash. The flash on the camera is optional. Q even says to her just before she fires the laser "don't use the flash".

Just watching this movie...

Also have all the Bonds on dvd: need to check this, because ALLWAYS bothered me: how to take x-ray pic from a photo !!!!!!

That was a hilarious little joke they slipped in there that I hadn't noticed until now; that the camera took not only an X-Ray image of both Bond and Q, but of the man in the portrait behind them! 

That shot goes by so fast it's easy to miss it, it's a nice little joke in an otherwise pretty serious Bond movie.
