"Indiana, let it go"

I thought Henry saying that to his son was one of the most touching scenes of all time, this scene definitely tugs my heartstrings.

And then Disney stole it, for their 'Frozen' film.

reply

I still haven't seen "Frozen" yet, can't believe they would steal it.

reply

Disney also stole the Robin Hood Prince of Thieves theme for their DVD ads quite a few years ago.

Tall talk from a man who completed his life's quest, sipped from the cup and gained enlightenment. Selfish asshole didn't want to share none of it. It also suggests his realizing that having attained these things, totally not worth it, he wasted his life and what really mattered was family. Which is bitter sweet. And I never much thought about it till I read your post header, but he calls his son by his chosen name in that scene, cause he accepts finally who his son is. That's him letting go his bullshit. There's a ton of nuance in that tiny little scene.

You're just looking into too much. He was simply calling his son to forget about the cup. There is nothing unusual about a father calling his son by his first name to do something

But Indy had already drunk more from the grail than Henry had, anyway. And the grail granted eternal life, not enlightenment. That was something Henry discovered on his own through his quest. But in any case, if it's enlightened talk, how can it be "tall" or "selfish" talk?

reply

Absolutely feel the same. That tiny little musical cue when Henry says it always makes me smile.

Great scene.
