question about this movie for those who've seen it.....

How graphic does this movie get with the abuse? I just started watching it and I'm afraid to continue. I'm used to seeing rape like the episode of Degrassi called "Shout" and the movie North Country. Also the movie speak and A date with darkness. But one can only take so much. I mean the two I just described wern't horibly graphic but I have a feeling that if this one is, it might give me nightmares. So far, I feel awful for this poor kid. His parents should have warned him about strangers. I'm gladd that prick Parnell died! I hope wherever he is, he rots and feels the pain he put Steven through. Anyone who does that is just beyond sick! I'm sorry but Parnell should have gotten a death sentence for that. A 7 year old boy! I hope he got beat up in jail by his cell mates! So how graphic does the movie get? Will it overly upset me based on what you read in the beginning of my post?

It's not graphic at all.I mean not even a bit. They don't ever show anything, and they really don't talk about it that much. The only part that's bad is you can hear Steven as a 7 year old saying stop and Parnell telling him to shhh. You can't see anything though. I think you are gonna be okay. =)

Thanks. I watched the movie on youtube. It was pretty well made. Have you read the book? To anyone who has what's the book like? I might read it. I've read stuff like it that is equally upsetting. Like A Child Called It and Stolen Innocence. I'm glad Parnell is dead or wherever he is now as long it's not out in the open where he can harm children.

I have the book, so yes, I've read it.It does get pretty graphic like the above poster said. But you can overlook it, because its a very good book and has a lot of details with his life and other things.I do recommend reading it if your interested in more then the movie(:
