He didn't actually like the pigs it was a joke everyone was playing on him because he admitted a student with the name that was short for I am a pig, they talk about at one point.

The joke was that the other recruiters sent him a folder with a student named Irma Michael Anthony Pigg and he thought it was a real student so he recommended the "student". If you take the initials of the first three names and the whole last name you get "I M A PIGG" or "I am a pig". Get it? It is like later with the Charles Rocket character and Leonard Edward Funt, aka L.E. Funt or elephant.
