The mailman...

Haha! Did anyone else notice the mailman is the same from Better Off Dead?!? Hilarious!

His name is Taylor Negron and I once ran into him on the Sausalito ferry in San Francisco. He was with a bunch of friends and he was blown away that someone actually recoginzed him. I reminded him of his line in "Better Off Dead" about dating "Beth". He laughed and his friends started asking him what I was talking about. He said, "It's from a movie I was in." They had no idea he was even in BOD. He was also the guy who delivered the pizza to Sean Penn in "Fast Times a Ridgemont High" and the crazed killer in Bruce Willis's "The Last Boy Scout". My brush with greatness...

He was on that TV show with the Olsen sisters. Why is he relegated to inferior movie roles.

reply

He was very funny as the mailman. He did play a complete cartoonish creep in Last Boy Scout. He is unique.

His best know role is as Julio(Rodney's Son-In-Law) in the 1985 Rodney Dangerfield Movie "Easy Money".

reply

No, that film came out in 1983, not 1985. Just wanted to get the info right.

reply

He also delivered pizzas in Bio-Dome. So that's at least two roles as a mailman and two roles delivering pizzas.

Great story, man.... glad he was so cordial and you got to meet him.

He was in One Crazy Summer too. Savage Steve Holland obviously liked him. But I've gotta say the Better Off Dead role, even though it's so small, was just one of the best short appearances.

I saw him in a pizza place on 14th street in NYC once. I said, hey you're that guy!

He said somthing like "That guy, sure." I think he was a little miffed that I didn't know his name.

Oh well.

reply

Unfortunately he passed away recently as you may or may not know. He will be missed. R.I.P

He plays his roles perfect. He was great in nothing but trouble. Had a wicked accent.

A few better off dead actors in this.

The step mom was the french foreign exchange student.

Arcadia bible college was Charles DeMar or whatever.

And Ricky had 1 line. .

reply

He was also a comedian in Punchline (sally field and tom hanks).

reply

Also a classic performance as the convenience store clerk in " The River's Edge " (1986) - sometimes his screentimes are less than a minute but he is freaking awesome even in the smallest roles.

Don't forget his funny part in "Nothing But Trouble" ... no matter what you might think of that film, he makes his part worth watching!

reply

Yes, I noticed that. He also appeared in One Crazy Summer as one of the gas station attendants.

reply

I remember seeing him do stand-up comedy on several comedy shows back in the 80's. I've always enjoyed Taylor Negron's comedy and acting.

Yeah, Curtis was in this film in an unbilled cameo as the Arcadia Bible Academy recruiter.

Taylor Negron is the best ever. EVER

First time I recall seeing him was on The Dating Game, if I recall correctly he was actually on twice.

Many years later I remember saying "hey it's that guy from The Dating Game," when I watched Young Doctors in Love and he was putting the moves on Pamela Reed's character to get into her controlled substances.

Now I always get a kick out of seeing him turn up when least expected in a film or show.

reply

Seen everything listed in the thread and I never realized it was the same guy playing all those characters.

reply

It's the same actor, but this time he is not dropping letters and has dogs attacking his legs as he walks.
