Is this the "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" of the Halloween series?

In other words, what happens when everybody involved wants to make a franchise their own thing by deconstructing and then going against what makes it work.

That should be enough information to suss out some of Halloween 5’s issues; it was a rush job. Where Halloween 4 is the most boring Halloween up to this point, Halloween 5 is the most head-scratching. Generally hated by the fan base, it’s often accused of abandoning the principles laid out by its predecessors. However, the fact that it subverted the general expectations of where fans thought the story was going might factor into this disdain as well.

Although, I've also been reading that Halloween Ends is really The Last Jedi of the Halloween movies:

No. 6 is The Last Jedi:A movie so absurdly stupid with its implications that it nearly destroys the franchise. 5 is more like Episode 2 where it's simply a bad, but salvageable movie.

Halloween Ends is more like Rise of the Skywalker where it entirely ignores the last movie despite being the end of a trilogy.

I agree. This was disappointing, but not a disaster along the lines of a Last Jedi. 6 derailed the franchise.
