Does anyone here think this is the best film Helen Mirren ever did?
I personally do. Her performance feels so personal, yet it's so moving.

Definitely! I fell heavily for Mirren as an actress based on her performance as Georgina Spica. Not only is she incredibly talented, I think she's a very beautiful woman as well.
More science, less fiction.

Totally agree with OP. Best Helen Mirren ever. I don't even need to watch her entire filmography, as great as it is, to know that that's true.

she is so beautiful in this movie, I think the character is beautiful as well, so it's a double whammy. the character is such a beautiful, sweet woman in such a rotten situation and she finds true love and it is snatched away. :(

Definitely. She's spectacular in The Long Good Friday too but this is undoubtedly her magnus opus and the same goes for everyone involved. One of the best films ever made.
I forgot where I am.
Well it helps that she spends the majority of it naked.
For me anyway...

It's probably her best performance on film. Plus, also the best film that she has ever been in. I'd put The Long Good Friday in as her second best. She should have got at least an Oscar nomination for The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover. Everyone seems to rave about The Queen - it's good, but it is a dressed-up TV movie - not on a par with her other work.
ah, no. no acting, except when her character was punched in the stomach. good performance of a punched person.
