Tomisaburo Wakayama

One of my favorite things about this movie was the use of a great (but somewhat lesser know in America) Japanese actor from the "Lone Wolf & Cub" movies Tomisaburo Wakayama as the big Yakuza boss. He had the perfect presence and tone to play this role probably better than any other actor I can think of. Some of the differences are subtle but powerful. He had died a few years after this movie, but left a rich legacy behind. I truly hope they get around to remastering the Lone Wolf series in HD. There was some really great cinematography there. probably some of the best in pre-1990's martial arts films. Sadly many have told me that they thought the actor who played this role was Toshiro Mifune from the Shogun miniseries amongst others. Even though Toshiro was unarguably one of the greatest Japanese actors, Tomisaburo was closer to his par but far less recognized abroad. Heres to you Tomi!!!
