At the end of the movie we see Nick apprehend the bad guy. Ridley Scott also shot an alternative ending where the bad guy is impaled on a spike.
It think the ending where he apprehends the bad guy works better. It shows the characters growth and comes off as a surprise after they set up the impalement but cut to the arrest after both of the characters look at each other and think the same thing.
