I don't remember the exact details, but on the DVD commentary Ridley Scott explains that she is working as a 'hostess'. I',m not sure exactly what this entails, but I guess it involves lots of teasing, seduction, flirting, earning tips, and possible 'more' if the price is right.

I never found her attractive in Temple of Doom, but in this she looked really good. Too bad Spielberg defiled her.
