Olivia should have been arrested...

...for assaulting Grace the way she did. I thought this whole scene was very unrealistic. If this happened in real life, in a club, espcecially today, and even in 1989, there would have been a flurry of bouncers or security guards to stop this. Also, beating someone down in front of that many people would definitely lead to an arrest.

It also bothered me that no one in the crowd did anything to help Grace. Also, to me it is unrealistic that a woman of Grace's size could be beaten down so easily, although Grace was a meek and mild person and she did not fight back. She should have fought back and defended herself, but, it was not in her persona to do so. Grace was not a weakling, she carried a mattress up several flights of stairs by herself and she also had a lot of weight behind her; but, she had no self-esteem and was not a fighter.

Also, she would have lowered herself to Olivia's level and could have been arrested herself. It is too bad that sometimes being the "bigger person" means to allow oneself to take abuse.

Also, Olivia was not THAT hot, she may have been tall and thin, but she was not THAT pretty. I think Ricki Lake was and still is prettier than the actress who played Olivia.

I abhorred Olivia. What a *beep* b**ch.

"Hey guys! Whoa, Big Gulps huh? All right! Well, see ya later!" Dumb & Dumber

I thought Olivia was a stuck-up *beep* She did not deserve a nice guy like him.

But that said, I could understand her anger. I did NOT sympathize that deeply with Grace, actually. Being heavy and wanting what you want does not excuse you from shabby actions, and stealing someone's boyfriend can certainly qualify for that.

Olivia and Rob were not married...all is fair...steaing a boyfriend or fiancé is perfectly okay...married, it is not okay to be a home wrecker.

Please tell me you are kidding. It is never OK to cheat on and betray someone you're in a relationship with, whether married or not.

I agree. It is not okay to start a romantic relationship with someone who is already in a romantic relationship. This was one of the main problems I always had with this, otherwise, good movie. I do not have a problem with someone becoming friends with, maybe even developing feelings for someone who is in a relationship. But before you take your relationship any further past friendship, you should both end whatever romantic relationships you are currently in. Yes, Olivia and Rob were horribly mis-matched, but Rob should have ended their engagement before becoming romantically involved with Grace. If Rob and Grace had kept the relationship at friendship until Rob had a chance to break off his engagement with Olivia, then I would have had absolutely no problems with Rob and Grace getting together.

And I hate the 'it's never okay to steal someone's boyfriend' argument. You don't own the person you are in a relationship with. They have every right to end their relationship with you if they find a better match for themselves. Someone can't steal something that you never owned to begin with. That said, cheating is not okay, IMO. End the relationship before embarking on another romantic relationship.
