my BIGGEST guilty pleasure show
Sure the facts were a little off, sure some episodes were cheesy...
but I just fell in love with the charm of the show. I love the rock-style opening credits, the montage sequences, the boys are ALL cute, Yvonne Suhor is my hero, Teaspoon is the man.... OH BOY! I love this show.
Also...
any of you who are knowledged in either "Friends" or "Dawson's Creek"...
the character of Lou was my first 'triangle' story I had ever seen. All up until the last season, Lou was the "Rachel Green" or "Joey Potter" of my life where I was left thinking: Will she end up with The Kid or Jimmy?
Also...
this was my first Baldwin experience on any entertainment medium. Everyone else always say that Alec Baldwin was the first Baldwin they had ever seen, but for me, as a 7-year-old little girl... it was all about Stephen Baldwin.
Also...
as a little girl, seeing this little woman (Lou McCloud) make a living in that horrid work life had such a great impact on me. She was riding along side the boys, carried a gun, had short hair, no make-up, slept in the same room as the boys, but still kept her sense of femininity. Sure it's kinda hokey now, but for me, it was a BIG deal.
In this age of push-the-limits dramas, gross out forensics shows, reality tv, and unfunny sitcoms... The Young Riders remains my greatest biggest bestest guilty pleasure show.
Of course I can never hope for a reunion and such, but I like to think that this show is a piece of treasure that I can take with me for all times!
