shareThey did, it was called "Young Guns" and came out first, lol.
shareNot exactly... The idea for the Young Riders was thought up by creator Ed Speilman in the very early 1980's. His orignal series was called "The Kid" but it was transformed into "The Young Riders" a few years later way before "Young Guns" was a movie. If you google "The Young Riders Writers Ranch" and go to the forum for links you'll find a website that is archived by Miss Raye. Ed Speilman named her the Official Historian of The Young Riders. Miss Raye has an interview with Ed Speilman and it will say when he began working on the show. She also has other interviews with the cast and others that were on the show. The interviews are for real. Miss Raye has met many of the cast and Ed Speilman. They are really fun to read and you can find out the most interesting things. So the "Young Guns" Movies had nothing to do with "The Young Riders" and vice versa. They were in a totally different time frame in the 1800's and totally different characters and premise. Just thought people should know. :)

Here's the direct link to the above mentioned and very interesting interview with Ed Spielman: http://tt.theyoungriderstv.net/staff/edspielman.html. Mr. Spielman actually came up with the initial idea for "The Young Riders" as early as the 1970s, way before the "Young Guns" movies were created. "The Young Riders" and "Young Guns" have nothing in common, except for being westerns.
And no, they need not remake TYR as a Hollywood blockbuster (unless they put all of the original actors in it). What they do need to do, is release the last two seasons on DVD as well. We've been waiting long enough!
I prefer a 1 hr 56 min movie... considering that movie credits are getting longer and longer these days.
shareI think they should make a Young Riders: The Next Generation 20 Years later. The actors are older now and the riders would have kids in there teens to early 20's. So they could have an adventure with all the kids of the riders with the riders riding along with them together for one last time. Maybe to help someone who is in trouble. Maybe one of the riders or someone like Rachel or Emma. Maybe there could be a little romance between the a daughter and son of the riders who are not related of course. Maybe a little puppy love between some of the younger ones. That would be the movie I would make. :)

Twenty years after the Pony...well, kiss Jimmy goodbye because he would be dead. "Wild Bill" died in 1876. You have just killed arguably the biggest star of the show.
I think they should reboot this with some new stars and put it on the CW.
EDIT: Sorry if that sound catty and nasty, but Jimmy was, and is, my favorite character, just like Josh Brolin has always been my favorite actor. I have literally seen EVERYTHING that the man has been in. A "Young Riders" without Jimmy would not be a "Young Riders" I would be interested in.
