Fitting Punishment

One of my all time favorite episodes of this show and a nice 90's modern African American take on the Vault of Horror story which is one of my fave stories in EC comics.

Moses Gunn was terrific as Uncle Ezra whom you know him from The Neverending Story as that councilman for the Empress in that movie, who knew that he was a nice guy from that movie to a greedy cold funny and hateful bastard of an uncle.

Who else felt bad for Bobby being abused, beaten, crippled and killed by his uncle? i always did even as a kid as i felt sympathy for him. But luckily his severed feet became haunted and he came back as a vengeful spirit of a reveneant (ala The Crow) to give the uncle what he deserved.

Who knew the guy who did Elm Street 2 and The Hidden plus co-written by the creator of Chucky did this episode.

Did you too despise Ezra and wanted to go into the screen to strangle him for being an evil and greedy excuse for a human being who had no love for the living or the dead?

And do you agree Bobby wasn't a zombie but rather more along the lines of The Crow's Eric Draven as a reveneant and do you know what revenants are?

With the atmosphere and all black cast, who else thought this was more like a Tales from the Hood story than a Crypt one?

Ezra is by far the most deplorable antagonist of the show, IMO.

Indeed, do you think he got what he deserved?

Although i think Bobby could had gotten the saw since his uncle got crippled and to amputate his legs for us who despise Ezra would had been a more climatic ending.

Yet how did Bobby came back as a reveneant? was Ezra's sister into voodoo and conjured up a spell for Bobby for whenever he gets died in vein by someone purely evil he will return from the dead to get revenge on the bad one who killed him?

Maybe it was Karma.

Yet isn't it funny how the nice guy who gave Atreyu in Neverending Story the Auryn plays a complete bastard? yet i think Bobby instead of using the crowbar should had gotten the saw to amputate Ezra's crippled legs as payback for having his own feet cut off plus with Ezra screaming in agony with blood splattered on his face would had been sweeter than just the crowbar.

Agreed. Solid episode, but in rewatching my dvds, I had to skip it. He's so punchable.

1 of my fav episodes. It's 1 of the few that made me so furious watching it cuz of Ezra's character. I'm glad Bobby got his revenge at the end.
