What happened?
The first four or five seasons were gold. Then it went straight downhill. What happened?

shareThe basis of the simpsons is that it mocked america, back when the simpsons came out, reagan had just left office, shows like the waltons and the wonders years were popuiar.. america was still a conservative place. the simpsons was a little counter culture. i remember mrs bush snr saying how bad it was. in reality it was like nothing else on tv, it mocked and made fun of mainstream america at the time. so it was edgy and cool.
But when america went in the other direction during the 90s. it couldnt mock something that didn't exist, it couldnt be culture culture anymore. mixed with the writers running out of ideasm because every tv show has a shelf life.
The Simpsons could have done a 180 lately and mocked woke culture, but that was never going to happen.
Good points.
shareProbably pointless even making these responded since the user and the person who responded deleted their accounts, but the topic is still here, and many others can still come in and chime on the matter. I frankly had something to say and still want to note it down.
The first FOUR or FIVE? This is shocking as many say the first eight or nine was where the show was peaking. I wouldn't say it "fell off" this soon whether it be after Season 5 or 9, but it certainly did lose that dark edge it had the last 20+ years. The episodes are still strong and entertaining, but the show is much more than its comedy. It needs that balance and grounded satire again like we saw in a lot of the earlier seasons.
What happened? You lost your sense of humor. Something must have happened in your life at the time you indicate to make you a sourpuss. And when you thought about it you realized the moving finger of fate was pointing at you, and you removed your (anonymous) name for shame(!). Crazy.
