Homer is shakey
Milhouse is gone
Wiggum is gone
Krusty is barely there

I feel like tonight's premiere even joked about the series slowly winding down. But it's one of those where honestly what else could be iconic enough to get its time slot? But I think if/when it ends, they'll want to end it on a season of note, and so 40 is the next likely opportunity

They have got old.

Moe
Mr.Burns

are two others who are gone.

They are gone as in their voices no longer sound like the characters. They have aged to a point where they can no longer perform the characters adequately.

If the writing was any good, they could invest a few bucks and have AI clean up the performances - but it's just not worth the trouble.

Simpsons were the golden goose of fox for decades. Its a shame they dont care anymore.
