I haven't followed The Simpsons in some years but S29:E21?? Is that what they're up to now? LOL. It's like when Back to the Future Part II poked fun at Jaws by having a hologram for Jaws 19.
I can only imagine how poor this show is 19 seasons after it started to decline.

shareIt's always been a current year kind of show. What the characters remember or not about the past is really up to whatever the writer wants for the episode. It's just a cartoon.
shareIt's the awful "That 90s show" where some flashback shows Homer and Marge met as "high school students" in the "mid 1990s", which would be news to season 1 Homer and Marge, given that they were married with children in 1990. Apparently they wanted to retcon the classic episode "The Way We Was". Well, sorry "That 90s Show", but "The Way We Was" was a BETTER "origin story" than you'll ever be!
